What We Believe

Rooted in Scripture. Centered on Christ. Living by Grace.

Eastaboga Baptist Church embraces and affirms:

The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as our official doctrinal statement.
The Nashville Statement on Biblical Sexuality.
The Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.

Our beliefs are deeply rooted in the inerrant Word of God, governed by Christ as Head
of the Church, and upheld by the power of the gospel.

I. The Scriptures

We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is the
final authority for all doctrine, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness.
Scriptures: 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:19–21; Psalm 19:7–11; Hebrews 4:12; John
17:17; Matthew 5:18

II. God

There is one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit. Each is fully God, coequal in power and glory.
Scriptures: Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5–7; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1–3; 2 Corinthians
13:14

III. Man

Man was created by the special act of God in His own image. Through Adam’s sin,
mankind fell and inherited a sinful nature, and is thus separated from God and under
condemnation.
Scriptures: Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:10–23; Romans 5:12–21; Ephesians 2:1–3

IV. Salvation

Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It includes regeneration,
justification, sanctification, and glorification.
Scriptures: Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 5:1; John 3:3–6; Titus 3:5–7; Philippians 1:6

V. God’s Purpose of Grace

Election is the gracious purpose of God to bring sinners to Himself. All true believers
endure to the end through God’s sustaining grace.
Scriptures: Romans 8:28–30; John 10:27–29; 1 Peter 1:3–5; Ephesians 1:4–6

VI. The Church

The New Testament church is a body of baptized believers who gather under the
Lordship of Christ, observe the ordinances, and are led by biblically qualified male
pastors and elders.
Scriptures: Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:41–47; Ephesians 4:11–16; 1 Timothy 3:1–13; Titus
1:5–9

VII. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Baptism is by immersion and symbolizes the believer’s union with Christ. The Lord’s
Supper is a memorial act of obedience, remembering Christ’s death until He returns.
Scriptures: Romans 6:3–5; Acts 2:38–41; 1 Corinthians 11:23–29

VIII. The Lord’s Day

The first day of the week is the Lord’s Day, a celebration of Christ’s resurrection and a
day for worship and rest.
Scriptures: Acts 20:7; Revelation 1:10; Hebrews 10:24–25

IX. The Kingdom

The Kingdom of God includes His rule in the hearts of His people now and will be fully
realized in Christ’s return and eternal reign.
Scriptures: Matthew 6:33; Romans 14:17; Revelation 11:15

X. Last Things

God, in His own time, will bring the world to its appropriate end. Jesus Christ will return
personally and visibly. The righteous will dwell forever in heaven; the unrighteous will be
consigned to hell.
Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; Revelation 20:11–15; Matthew 25:31–46; John
5:28–29

XI. Evangelism and Missions

It is the duty of every believer and every church to make disciples of all nations through
the sharing of the gospel.
Scriptures: Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:14–15; 2 Corinthians 5:20

XII. Education

Christian education is vital for the development of a biblical worldview and discipleship.
Parents are the primary disciplers of their children.
Scriptures: Deuteronomy 6:6–9; Proverbs 1:7; 2 Timothy 2:2; Ephesians 6:4

XIII. Stewardship

God is the source of all blessings, and Christians are called to use time, talents, and
possessions for His glory.
Scriptures: Malachi 3:10; 2 Corinthians 9:6–11; 1 Corinthians 4:2; Matthew 6:19–21

XIV. Cooperation

Churches should voluntarily cooperate for the advancement of the gospel and the work
of the kingdom.
Scriptures: Philippians 1:3–7; Acts 15:1–35; 3 John 1:5–8

XV. The Christian and the Social Order

All Christians are under obligation to seek justice, show mercy, and walk humbly.
However, we reject unbiblical social movements that distort the gospel or deny biblical
categories.
Scriptures: Micah 6:8; Amos 5:24; Matthew 5:13–16; James 1:27

XVI. Peace and War

Peace is commanded, but it does not preclude the use of force in the defense of
righteousness and liberty.
Scriptures: Romans 12:18; Ecclesiastes 3:8; Luke 22:36; Romans 13:1–7

XVII. Religious Liberty

God alone is Lord of the conscience. Church and state should be separate, and
religious freedom should be protected.
Scriptures: Matthew 22:21; Acts 5:29; Galatians 5:1

XVIII. The Family

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. Marriage
is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment. We affirm the
complementarian view that men and women are equal in value, yet distinct in role. We
reject secular feminism and affirm the Nashville Statement’s vision for biblical
sexuality.
We also affirm the Danvers Statement as a faithful summary of biblical teaching on
manhood and womanhood.
Scriptures: Genesis 2:18–25; Ephesians 5:22–33; Colossians 3:18–21; Proverbs 22:6

XIX. Our Stance on Spiritual Gifts

We hold to a cessationist view of miraculous sign gifts (tongues, prophecy, healing) as
temporary and tied to the apostolic era. We believe these gifts ceased with the
completion of Scripture and the passing of the apostles. Tongues were real languages,
prophecy was divine revelation, and healing was immediate and verifiable.

We do affirm that God still works miracles today, according to His sovereign will. We do
not believe that any living individual possesses the ability to perform signs or miracles at
will. Prayer for healing and divine intervention is always encouraged—but must rest in
God's providence and not in presumed spiritual powers.
Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 12:12; Hebrews 2:3–4; 1 Corinthians 13:8–10; Ephesians
2:20

XX. What We Believe About Abortion

We believe that life begins at conception and every unborn child bears the image of
God. Abortion is the unjust taking of human life and is a violation of the Sixth
Commandment. We stand unequivocally pro-life, affirming the sanctity of human life
from the womb to natural death.
While we stand against abortion, we also proclaim the grace of Christ to those who
have experienced it. Forgiveness and healing are found in the gospel.
Scriptures: Psalm 139:13–16; Jeremiah 1:5; Exodus 21:22–25; Luke 1:41–44; Genesis
1:27; 1 John 1:9

Conclusion

We proclaim the whole counsel of God. We are committed to biblical fidelity, gospel
proclamation, Spirit-empowered holiness, and a Christ-exalting vision for the home,
church, and world.
